Services

mem1R & L Preservation offer a large range of services which range from rising damp and waterproofing treatments to specialised timber treatments and surveys.

Here is a list of services that R & L Preservation offers:

French Drain

A French drain is required when the outside ground levels are higher than the internal floor levels. An effective way to remedy this is to dig a recommend depth and width channel around the perimeter of the house and back fill it with shingle, this allowing water to drain below the damp proof course and prevent it from bridging the existing damp proof course.

Bellcast

If the outside render is in contact with the ground it allows ground water salts to be drawn up above the existing damp proof course (i.e. bridging effect) to rectify this a Bellcast bead is installed above damp proof course level and render below this is removed.

Chase

As with the Bellcast this is where the outside render is in contact with the ground.  A chase is where a line is cut out using a small disc cutter at or above damp proof course level as necessary and backfilled with a mastic sealant.

Wet/Dry Rot

This occurs when timbers have been affected through damp i.e. water penetration, leaks and poor ventilation within the subfloor area, these need to be treated or removed depending on the severity of the damage and replaced with pre treated timbers, if left the wood will continue to be affected and the strength weakened thus affecting the structure of the property.

Air Bricks

This allows the subfloor to breath; this will prevent possible Wet/Dry Rot, Weevil to occur and any possible sub floor defect in the future.

Solid Floor Replacements/Repairs

These are excavated and prepared, insulated, reinforced and finished with a waterproof floor screed to finish in today’s modern specifications and building regulations and can be adapted where necessary to accommodate properties needs and requirements.

timberTimber Floor Replacement/Repairs

Rotted timber joist plates are removed and replaced with new pre treated timber where necessary, plus a physical damp proof course incorporated and timbers are isolated away from masonry/structure as site conditions permit.

Removal/Refitting of Skirting Boards

Skirting boards are removed and replaced with new/old to match the existing plus reverse side is primed to help and protect against future rot.

Associated Plumbing Works

These are carried out by our operatives on site, these include removal and re-fixing of radiators, kitchen and bathroom suites where necessary.

Minor Modifications

Again these can be carried out by our operatives, restructure and design of the building to strict building regulations where building allows.
